The MICHEL Coins Germany is being published for the 27th time this year. Due to its annual publication, it always provides the collector with the latest information on the collecting area "German coins since 1871". It also covers the supplementary areas and the Euro coins of the countries participating in the Euro that have been in circulation in Germany since 2002. There is an important addition in 2023, because Croatia has also introduced the Euro since 1 January 2023.

In 2022, the Covid 19 pandemic still had an impact on the coins' issue dates. Whether this will still be the case in 2023 remains to be seen. As planned, Germany has started a new series of 2-Euro commemorative coins on the theme "Bundesländer II" with the motif "Hamburg". It shows the "Elbphilharmonie", Hamburg's new landmark. The series of 5-Euro coins "Wonderful World of  Insects" will be continued with four new coins, which is also planned for 2024.

For the collectors of the 2-Euro commemorative coins, the novelties of the year 2023 of all participating Euro countries have been recorded again with the corresponding mintages and prices. This is especially the joint issue "35 years Erasmus programme of the European Union" with a total of 19 coins.

The tendency of the coin market to pay correspondingly high prices for coins in above-average condition has continued. This has also been reflected in the pricing in many places in this edition.

Also noteworthy are the increases in the value of 2-Euro commemorative coins, especially from the smaller states with Euro currency. This is by no means limited to Monaco.

The announced mintage figures of the Euro exchange rate coins were supplemented and, in the case of Germany, the first mintage orders for 2023 also incorporated. There is also a preview of the planned issues for 2023 and the programme for the German coins of 2024.
