Lunar New Year is always a major celebration observed around the globe, deeply rooted in cultural traditions and customs. It also holds great significance in the world of philately, as many countries, including the United States, release special commemorative stamps to honor the occasion. These stamps often feature vibrant and symbolic designs that reflect the themes of the zodiac animal for the year, as well as elements of good fortune, prosperity, and unity. This year is no exception, and we’ll explore the details of these special releases in a separate article.

Regarding the 2025 USPS love issue it’s worth mentioning that the “new Love stamp celebrates the universal experience of love with a work by artist Keith Haring (1958–1990). With a deceptively simple and now-iconic style, Haring’s work is instantly recognizable. This stamp features Haring’s 1985 Untitled drawing.” - USPS
Animals are undeniably adorable and share the world with us, so it’s no surprise that they often appear on stamps as well. The United States has issued a number of fascinating animal-themed stamps over the years, including the beautiful 2023 Winter Woodland Animals stamps. The design style of these stamps is quite similar to the one featured on the upcoming 2025 Baby Wild Animals stamps.

A powwow is a vibrant celebration of Native American culture where individuals from various indigenous nations come together to dance, sing, and honor the traditions passed down by their ancestors. These gatherings, which typically span one to four days, attract dancers, singers, artists, and traders from far and wide. Visitors, including non-Native spectators, are encouraged to join in, as participants aim to share the rich and positive aspects of their cultural heritage with others.

“The Postal Service strives to tell the stories of all Americans on its stamps, and issuing stamps that honor the living culture and heritage of Indigenous people is an important part of that goal. These stamps celebrate powwows, Native American social and ceremonial gatherings that feature music, dance and festive regalia. For this issuance, Cochiti Pueblo artist Mateo Romero created original paintings of four powwow dancers performing their craft against brightly colored backgrounds that highlight each dancer’s movement and traditional dress. Antonio Alcalá, an art director for USPS, designed the stamps.” - USPS
In the upcoming articles, we will cover new stamp issues from Germany, France, and the Benelux countries. Stay tuned!
