formes Berlin produces postcards and greetings cards from high-quality materials and with the latest laser techniques. formes Berlin believes their cards are too good for to be pinned on the refrigerator. That’s why they let them become three-dimensional. From the planning and the designing through to the distribution, the production takes mainly place in their workshop in Berlin.

MATERIAL

formes Berlin has high requirements concerning a resource-saving production and an exceptional quality: The wood veneer of the wooden postcards is as thin as paper. The paper for the handmade paper cards is eco-friendly produced from textile remnants. All Italian papers and paper inserts are produced in a sustainable way or made from recycled material.

An essential part of their philosophy is to deal responsibly with the environment and society. formes Berlin is a family business run by Nick Rübesamen and Henrike Mayer.

The Cards are made out of real cedar wood which is harvested in sustainably maintained forest. The postcard is laser-cut in a variety of different patterns. These shapes can be easily punched out, folded and assembled into 3-dimensional objects.
The clever arrangement of fold-lines makes construction possible without any extra tools.
The minimal design of the cards leaves plenty of room for personal touches like writing, painting or coloring. Just like paper, one can use a variety of standard pens, pencils, markers and crayons to write on the cards to make a formes Berlin card not just a greeting but an individually designed gift.

The cards can be mailed using standard postcard tariffs.

The cedar wood used in the cards is finished to a furniture-grade veneer using a patented manufacturing process. The result is a postcard as light and thin as paper but with all the attractive qualities of wood: texture, appearance and smell. The wood is harvested in sustainably maintained forests.

PRODUCTION

The production of the postcard takes entirely place in Germany. The heart of the production is a Laser in the formes Berlin workshop in Berlin-Kreuzberg, developed by themselves. When the company needs help during fabrication or for other stages of production, they cooperate with workshops for people with disabilities.
